Resins and Incense

Resins and Incense

“Matter and its powers, a magical togetherness”

The use of sacred resins and incense is an ancestral practice shared across cultures for purification, ritual, and meditation. For thousands of years, plants and natural essences have been burned or infused to cleanse spaces, refine perception, and invite clarity. References to resins such as frankincense and myrrh appear throughout ancient traditions, including the biblical account of the Wise Men offering these essences as sacred gifts. This workshop reconnects participants with these time-honoured rituals, exploring how natural essences support energetic clarity and contemplative practice.
In truth, it is impossible to trace their origins; they are so deeply rooted in our culture. Yet even today, most of us have at least lit a stick of incense, perhaps for the peaceful atmosphere it creates or for its reassuring, beneficial fragrance.
But simply having the right incense or resin is not enough. There is a difference between going through the motions and entering a meaningful process. It’s not just about what you do, but how you do it.
In this module, we will touch on visualization, explore both the physical and energetic uses of these materials, and experience their effects. We will also learn how they can support us, cleanse our homes, enrich daily rituals, or accompany us as we travel. Copal, benzoin, black frankincense, Bolivian breu branco, pontifical blends, Palo Santo, or sage sticks, all of which we will discover together.
This Incense Initiation workshop can be beautifully supported by the Energy Visualization workshop, which deepens the inner connection at the heart of the practice.

TEACHER'S INSIGHT

As with each workshop, the study of resins opens and refines perception in a deep and essential way. When tree essences are offered to the fire, placed upon glowing charcoal, their
power unfolds, impacting the ether — and us along with it.
In this approach, resins become teaching supports in their own right. They guide us in observing what is released, what rises, and in understanding the impact they may have on our inner state.
By their nature, resins are entirely natural and rooted in ancient traditions and knowledge passed down to this day. This workshop is thus presented as a space for exploration and embodied experience, favoring direct perception over theoretical or purely descriptive learning about incense.
